Help SURJ NYC move $35,000 to Justice Committee!

This year, SURJ NYC is partnering with the Justice Committee (JC) on their journey to raise $260,000 at the Justice State of Mind VI: The People's Rhythm party on Thursday, October 30th. We are committed to moving $35,000 of that total through this page as well as individual host committee members’ fundraisers.

In the face of ongoing tyranny and escalating political & police violence, we need JC more than ever. This year, the JC continued activating CopWatchers to monitor increased NYPD repression at protests and its rising use of unconstitutional stop-and-frisk under Mayor Adams, as well as incorporating ICE Watch into these trainings to monitor increased ICE attacks.

JC is also the only organization in New York (and possibly in the country) that runs an organizing program for families who’ve lost loved ones to the police that intentionally combines skills-building, political education, healing programming, and families-led organizing campaigns. SURJ NYC has worked with JC on many of these organizing campaigns, including most recently justice for Allan Feliz, Kawaski Trawick, and Win Rozario.

Though there is great demand for JC’s services, there is significantly diminished foundation support for racial justice work and for work around policing in particular. JC needs the support of allies, accomplices, and community members to continue its work. Imagine the world we could build if JC had the full resources it needs to accomplish its mission—that's the world we at SURJ NYC are committed to building, and why we're committed to raising $35K!

So how can you help? Donate today! No donation is too small, and the first $130,000 will be matched so your dollars will go even further.

We hope to see you at Justice State of Mind on October 30th!

Thank you for your support!
